Rexing Intelligent Hardwire Kit with external motion sensor and power wiring
01 / BEFORE YOU CONNECT

Start with the sensor.

This guide follows the Intelligent Hardwire Kit manual shown below. Match your hardware and camera before installation.

01 / POSITION

Keep the sensing area clear.

Mount the sensor near the top of the windshield, a few inches from the dash cam. Keep the rear-view mirror and other objects out of its sensing area.

02 / CONNECT

Follow the port labels.

The sensor has separate Mini-USB connections for incoming fuse-box power and the dash cam. Use the included Mini-USB cable and the manual’s connection diagram.

03 / ROUTE

Plan the cable path.

Route the supplied hardwire kit toward the fuse box. Keep wiring clear of airbags, pedals and moving parts; have a qualified installer confirm the vehicle connections.

Check the switches. The sensor has a power switch and a separate motion-sensor on/off control. Confirm their positions before testing. The manual’s overview identifies both controls and ports.
02 / POWER CONNECTIONS

Three wires.
Three different jobs.

These colors apply to the kit in the linked manual. Confirm your kit’s labels, fuse type and vehicle circuits with a tester.

RED · Switched power

Connect to an appropriate ignition-switched fuse circuit. The manual describes this as powered only when the vehicle is on.

YELLOW · Constant power

Connect to an appropriate always-powered fuse circuit. This feed supplies the kit while the vehicle is parked.

BLACK · Chassis ground

Connect to a secure, verified chassis-ground point near the fuse box. Ensure good metal-to-metal contact.

Identify the circuit before connecting.

Fuse locations, ratings and adapters vary by vehicle. Use the vehicle documentation and kit instructions; a wire color alone does not identify a suitable fuse. Ask an installer to verify uncertain connections.

03 / PARKING BEHAVIOR

The kit controls
the wake-up.

  1. Vehicle powers off.The manual says the kit’s motion sensing becomes active when the vehicle is powered off.
  2. The sensor detects motion. The blue indicator identifies a motion detection event.
  3. The dash cam starts recording. The kit powers the connected camera and the manual describes recording until motion clears.

If low-voltage protection cuts the power, motion cannot wake the camera.

Frequent triggers consume battery energy. If your installed power module has a low-voltage cutoff, reaching that threshold can stop camera power and parking recording. Have the battery and power supply checked. The linked manual does not specify a cutoff or recovery voltage; confirm both for your exact module with Rexing support.

05 / TROUBLESHOOTING

Check the signal.
Then the supply.

Sensor position, settings and power all matter for motion-triggered recording.

Should I turn on Parking Monitor in my dash cam?

No. For the Intelligent Hardwire Kit covered by this manual, leave the dash cam’s Parking Monitor setting off. The external kit overrides that function and controls motion-triggered parking recording. Other kits can require different settings.

Where should I mount the motion sensor?

The manual places it near the top of the windshield, a few inches from the dash cam. Keep its sensing area clear; the rear-view mirror or other objects must not block it.

What do the red, yellow and black wires do?

In this kit’s manual, red connects to an ignition-switched circuit, yellow to an always-powered circuit, and black to chassis ground. Verify the actual kit labels and test the vehicle circuits before connecting. These colors are not a universal rule for other kits.

What does the blue indicator mean?

The manual identifies the blue light as motion detected. With the installation and switches correctly set, the kit powers the dash cam to record while motion is present.

Why does the camera stop recording after I park?

This kit uses motion-triggered recording. The manual describes the camera being powered when motion is detected and recording until motion clears; it does not promise continuous parking recording.

Why does it not wake when motion occurs?

Check the sensor’s power and motion switches, an unobstructed sensing area, the labeled input/output connections, constant-power feed, ground and camera compatibility. Have the installer check vehicle battery voltage and any low-voltage cutoff fitted to your kit.

Can frequent motion use up the available parking power?

Repeated wake-ups and recording use battery energy. If the installed power supply has low-voltage protection and reaches its cutoff, it can stop supplying the camera. Motion triggers will then no longer start recording until power is restored under that kit’s recovery conditions. Confirm those conditions with your kit instructions or support.

What is the low-voltage cutoff?

The linked Intelligent Hardwire Kit manual does not specify a cutoff voltage or reset threshold. Check the exact power module’s label and instructions, or ask Rexing support. Do not use a threshold from another hardwire kit.

Does this kit fit every Rexing camera?

Do not assume universal compatibility. This manual shows Mini-USB connections. Confirm the exact camera model, connector and power/parking requirements with Rexing support before installing.
